Dashing Don Dunstan.
Donald Allan “Don” Dunstan, AC, QC (21 September 1926 – 6 February 1999) was a South Australian politician. He entered politics as the Member for Norwood in 1953, became state Labor leader in 1967, and was Premier of South Australia between June 1967 and April 1968, and again between June 1970 and February 1979.
The penguin playing bagpipes used to wear a leather kilt. That outfit was far sexier, but judging by the number of tourists seeking photos, the penguin suit is eminently more popular, Bourke St Mall, Melbourne.

Queensland’s first premier, Robert Herbert, and the state’s first attorney-general, John Bramston, lived together at ‘Herston’ (yes, it’s a combination of their names).
Robert Herbert never married, and some historians conclude that he was likely gay. In 1864, Herbert offered an explanation as to why he had not married: “It does not seem to me reasonable to tell a man who is happy and content, to marry a woman who may turn out a great disappointment.” Read more here.
